Abstract

This article aims to reflect about controversies surrounding biblical interpretations of homosexuality. In turn, restrictive and moralistic interpretations, causing prejudice and discrimination for homosexual people in the Christian experience. In view of this, there was a need to reflect in isolation the biblical texts attributed to homosexuality (Gen 19, Jz 19, Lev 18,22; 20,13, Rom 1,26-27, 1Cor 6,910; 1Tm 1, 9-11), in order to recover its originality, according to the context and purpose. Through the research, it is possible to find that some of the passages address the theme itself, and that the others were related from later interpretations. It follows that it is a mistake to use these passages to judge and condemn homosexual people without prior knowledge and discernment about their content and meaning.
